It looks like it can not find maxenvironment.sl I've never heard of this one before so it must be new search for the file in your installation.

Would you mind posting the solution for the rest of us? That would be great to hear what ART VPS told you how to fix the problem. Thanks.

hi Pepster3D:
There is a file called maxenvironment.sl in your installer disk, you need to copy it into your max's plugins directory...You cannot put it into a sub-folder...
hope this help any user with this kind of problem....
by the way, any art-render users? can you share your experience and work flow....
cheers
Alex

I can't find a file called "maxenvironment.sl". I downloaded the 6.5 update from ARTs website. In their installer they only have 3 files to put into my plugins folder. skylight.sl, boxlight.sl, and rpmax.dlr. I am using Max 2009, 64-bit. I never got an installer disc.
Do you think I'm missing any other files? Guess I'll e-mail tech support and ask for that file. I am also getting an error "cannot find shader maxenvironment, background" when I try to render with the "flat ground mode" checked off in the skylight. When I uncheck that, I don't get the error.

I just got that missing file from support. Apparantly the update they had on their website was missing a file or two. I told them it would be helpful to their customers if they would send out an e-mail stating that the software builds in their website downloads were incorrect and they needed an update. I guess I had downloaded an earlier build of 6.5 but I had no idea since they didn't update their customers with the new information.
